- We will wash and recycle all glass bottles and rinse crush and recycle cans before adding them to the NDR collection
- We will audit our supplies on an annual basis to check their practice re. Refuse to Energy and Recycling destinations for our waste
Electrical and Electronic Waste
- As a lighting equipment business we generate a steady quantity of electronic and electrical waste we will commit to reducing this using the following steps, and where we have to dispose of it to do so responsibly in compliance with WEEE guidelines
- Office printers – we choose Ecotank products to avoid the need for wasteful ink cartridges and to reduce our need for single use plastic
- Batteries – we return equipment batteries to manufacturers for refurbishment where possible and aim to use rechargeable batteries in small appliances and other office equipment
- Bulbs – most of the bulbs in our equipment are now LED, and we aim to supply LED versions of practical bulbs where we can.
- Computers and Monitors – our computers are leased through Grenke, and we aim to donate monitors, computer mice, keyboards and other redundant equipment to charity rather than sending them to landfill
Energy and Water Use
- Lights and electrical equipment will be switched off when not in use.
- Heating will be adjusted with energy consumption in mind using a thermostat
- All our electricity is supplied on a100% greentarrif
- We will fit energy efficient light bulbs and fittings wherever possible
- We will install a plumbed in water cooler to avoid the use of plastic bottles in the office and warehouse
- We will use water saving measures in the toilet and kitchen to minimize wastage
Office Supply Procurement
- We will evaluate the environmental impact of any new products we intend to purchase.
- We will choose more environmentally friendly and efficient products whenever possible eg. washable rubber gloves over disposables
- We will reuse everything we are able to and try and sell or donate office equipment we no longer need before recycling it
Catering
- We have recycling bins for glass, cans, plastic, cardboard and food waste and use them responsibly

- We will clean and reuse plastic takeaway boxes and encourage staff to use them for food storage
- We will install a coffee machine that uses grounds not pods, and add the grounds to our food waste for composting
- We will provide fairtrade coffee and tea for employees
- We will encourage employess to bring their own food into the office to discourage takeaway packaging
- We will source any food needed for meetings or events from sustainable and where possible organic suppliers
Rental Equipment Purchases
- As a rental equipment supplier we have limited control of our supply chain as the choice of lights we carry is determined by our clients’ preferences, but we will endevour to choose rental equipment that meets the following criteria wherever we can.
- Robust – we always choose equipment that is high quality, well made and designed to last, we particularly favour lights that can be upgraded or adapted to be future proof, these make environmental and business sense.
- Repairable – we aim to choose equipment that can be repaired, either in house or by the supplier/distributor and collect spare parts for this purpose from lights that cannot be reused
- Responsible – where possible we source rental equipment from UK based companies, to reduce travel miles and to add transparency to the supply chain. We aim to conduct a thorough supply chain audit when time and resources allow.
- Reuse – we actively seek to sell professional standard equipment to DOPs and Gaffers when equipment is no longer generating rental revenue. We also donate offcuts of gels and other plastic based consumables to colleges and student filmmakers.
Transport
- We offset the carbon generated through deliveries and collections in both the Greenkit Van and the Mitsubishi hybrid via the Justdiggit/Webfleet Solutions partnership
- We now lease an electricvan and will strive to replace this with a larger payload vehicle when this becomes available to reduce transport miles.
- We use the Greenkit van responsibly doubling up on deliveries and collections where we can to save fuel
- We will drive the van with care to maximise fuel efficiency and minimize carbon emissions
- We will maintain the van in good condition to minimize environmental impacts of its use
- We encourage employees to use public transport or cycle where possible to get to work
